Incense, also known as olibanum, is an aromatic resin extracted from trees of the Boswellia genus. It has a long history and has been used in many cultures for religious, spiritual and therapeutic purposes.
It exists in various forms, each with different applications. One of the best-known forms is granulated incense. These small, hard grains are often burnt on glowing coals to produce a fragrant smoke. This smoke has a calming and purifying effect and is often used in religious ceremonies, meditations and spiritual practices. The rising smoke is said to symbolically carry prayers to heaven and create an atmosphere of holiness and purity.
Another common form is incense powder. This fine powder is often integrated into the production of incense sticks. Incense sticks are practical and easy-to-use products that spread a pleasant fragrance simply by lighting them. The powder is mixed with other ingredients to ensure even combustion and a consistent fragrance. Incense sticks are often used in meditations, yoga sessions and as a room fragrance to create a relaxing and harmonious atmosphere.
